ERP Implementation requires Scoping to get the full benefits

It is natural for the Scoping of an ERP Project to include an assessment of functionality that a business may need at some point in the future, but real decisions around software and project scope are required before Implementation starts.

SME uses Process Methodology like In software engineering, a software development methodology (also known as a system development methodology, software development life cycle, software development process, software process) is splitting of software development work into distinct phases (or stages) containing activities with the intent of better system outcome

 

Deciding on the software and implementation scope

The initial draft of the project scope should happen at the beginning of the project and this should be outlined in a formal Document (Project Blueprint). The Document requires detail and it’s important to have a realistic Project plan in mind so that the SAP Partner can work out their costs and the customer can see the deliverables of the Project.

A useful technique for managing scope during a selection project is to document amongst other topics:

  • what is in scope for the selection project,
  • what is in scope for each phase of the implementation
  • what is the Hardware Requirement
  • what software will run with SAP Business One
  • what is a future requirement
  • what is not in scope
