Based on our Experience within the context of the implementation of ERP’s within numerous SME’s led us to the conclusion that successful ERP implementation relied on various factors, most particularly the fundamental role played by the project management team .
“Projects, like human beings are finite and have a birth, a death. Each one has a unique personality. By their nature they each require the adoption of a unique management philosophy which is a “formal way” to focus on the completion dates of milestones and benchmarks.” Andrew Birrell
The project management team was responsible for the creation of the correct balance between the project methodology used and soft skills. Additionally we found that the design and application of tools could enhance the established methodology contributing to the success of the implementation. ERP implementationwithin an SME is not just as simple as installing the software, teaching the users how to use it.
